Academic Advising
An advisor will help you make choices and decisions about courses and develop strategies for studying and managing your time. Advisors can also provide assistance with career planning, along with personal counseling.
Tutoring
Individual and group tutoring is available to SSS TRiO students – all tutoring is free of charge! Many students even make tutoring a part of their weekly schedule. Individual tutoring appointments in English, math, science, and other subjects can be arranged for TRiO participants.
Transfer Assistance
Transfer assistance includes helping you explore options at four-year schools, arranging visits to open houses, and completing financial aid and college applications. SSS TRiO staff will also accompany you to meet admissions representatives and department chairs at nearby institutions. Also, each semester we co-sponsor the Transfer Expo so that our students meet college representatives.
Financial Aid Assistance
SSS TRiO staff assist students with completing all financial aid forms required for federal and state assistance. The SSS TRiO staff will help talk the mystery out of confusing financial aid forms!
Cultural Events and Social Activities
SSS TRiO sponsors trips to local theaters, museums, and musical events. This is a great way to meet other students and to enhance learning outside of class time!
