This advanced certificate program provides the “hands on” training and technical skills a student needs to be successful as an appliance service technician. Major appliances include refrigerators, air conditioners, ranges, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and microwave ovens.
Yes. The program is accredited by the Illinois College Board, Illinois Board of Higher Education, North Central Association of Post Secondary Institutions and is certified by the Veterans Administration.
The program is about 9 months, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Yes. The Howard/ Dan Ryan (Red Line) train stops at Wilson (one half block from Truman College Technical Center). The Broadway and Montrose buses also stop at the same location. Please refer to our Directions and Maps.
Tuition is approximately $3,200 and is subject to change without notice. The amount includes books, materials, work shirts, and the use of tools while enrolled in the program. Call for exact tuition information at 773-907-3995.
Financial Aid is available for qualified students. The first step is
determining eligibility is to complete and submit the Free Application
for Federal Aid.
Cash paying students are required to make a down payment of $1,000.
Arrangements for a monthly payment plan must be made by the Business
Office in the
main building.
Yes. If your district does not offer an Appliance Technology Program, contact your nearest community college for a charge back letter. The letter allows Truman College to waive out of district tuition charges if your nearest college does not offer this program.
No, but all applicants are required to take an admissions test (Test for Adult Basic Education, TABE) and score a 9.8 minimum in reading, 9.4 in math, and 7.8 in Language. If you are a high school graduate or a have a GED Certificate, you will only be required to take the reading section of the test.
The State of Illinois requires the students to be at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18 years of age, you must present a letter from your previous high school (stating you no longer attend) and signed permission fro your parent or guardian.
There is a very high demand for Appliance Service Technicians. Many
of our graduates are employed as successful service technicians.
Our program
provides job placement information about companies who hire our graduates.
Job Placement is also provided by the Truman College Placement Center.
