Student Activities

The Student Activities Center, Rooms 1623-1627 consists of the Student Lounge which is open in both the day and evening hours. Students are invited to relax, listen to music, play cards, and socialize. Also located in this complex is the Office of the Director of Student Activities, the Office of the President of the Student Government Association, the Student Government Offices, a work area for clubs, the TV Room, the Game Room, the Art Room and the Student Government Meeting Room.

The Game Room is open from 11:00am - 3:00pm Mondays thru Thursdays. There are pool tables, ping pong tables, and video arcade machines.

Office of Student Activities

The Office of Student Activities, Room 1633, offers a varied program for students who seek a richer college experience through personal interaction with other students. Besides meeting others, a student may find that his or her special interest becomes a full-time hobby or career possibility. The Student Activities program is flexible in encouraging new clubs to be organized, nevertheless, certain general rules apply to all organizations and activities.

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the representative organization of the student body. Its officers, president, vice-president, corresponding and recording secretaries, treasurer and senators, are elected at the end or the spring semester. The parliamentarian, sergeant-at-arms and various committee chairpersons are appointed by the president with the approval of the student government body. Committee participation is open to all students, except where otherwise stated in the Student Government Constitution.

Student Government Association membership is open to all students enrolled at Truman in good standing. The Student Government Association, in cooperation with the Director of Student Activities, oversees all other student clubs and organizations, allocates student activity fees, defends student rights, represents student opinion to the administration, participates in the formulation of academic and institutional policy, and presents cultural events of student interest.
