Truman College Information on Transferring to a 4-year school

Transfer options at Truman College

Transferring FROM Truman

FACT: If you earn either the 62 hour A.A. degree or the 64 hour A.S. degree, you can transfer to almost any U.S. college or university as a college junior, having fulfilled their General Education Requirements.

BUT: The specific college or university program that you are transferring to (like business) may have specific recommendations of classes that you should complete at Truman before earning our degree. For instance, Students transferring to Loyola should take a theology course (Phil 108) as part of their Truman General Education coursework. Many universities also require a "first year experience" course, like our College Success 101.

THE KEY TO SUCCESS: Figure out what you want to major in and what school you would like to attend, and tailor your class schedule at Truman to fulfill the requirements of that school and that program or major. Keep in touch with the 4-year school of your choice each semester, the Student Success Leadership Institute (SSLI) in Room 1435, or the Advising Office to make sure you are on track! Our handy Transfer Checklist can help.

We are here to assist you with exploring transfer options but you are responsible for knowing the specific requirements of the four-year school you are considering. To keep track of your progress towards completing a degree, fill out a transfer planning worksheet using the IAI website or use the Academic Advising Worksheet from the college catalog. Need more information? Send email to tr-ssli@ccc.edu.

Please fill out our transfer survey so that we can better assist you in the future.

IAI

Truman is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) which will allow undecided students to fulfill both the General Education curriculum and courses in an IAI Major which will transfer to participating baccalaureate degree institutions.
