Special Programs
Studio Classroom
The Studio Classroom project enhances student support through the collaborations between Student Services Liaisons, Student Ambassadors and instructors. Studio instructors have utilized the Early Alert Program to identify students that need extra assistance and are also working with Liaisons to integrate the Educational Plan into their classrooms. The Studio Classroom project offers the following services:
- Peer Tutoring & Mentoring
- Linkage to Support in the Classroom
- Linkage to Support in the Community
- Workshops & Seminars
WIA
As of July 1, 2000, Chicago implemented the Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which makes money available to unemployed persons for job training or other job search assistance.
Orientations for WIA Training Programs are offered every Monday and Thursday at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm and on Tuesdays at 10:00 am.
The following Truman certificate programs are WIA-approved, making them eligible for WIA funding for individuals who qualify:
- Accounting
- Automotive Technology
- Biotechnology
- Certified Basic Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Child Development
- Computer Information Systems
- Cosmetology
- Major Appliance Technology
- Medical Billing and Coding
- Nursing
- Pharmacy Technician
- Phlebotomy Technician
