The Early Alert Program is a tool designed to allow instructors to identify students who are having difficulties in class or who may need extra help to improve their academic performance. The goal of the Early Alert Program is to help students succeed at Truman.
Your instructor has noticed that you may need some additional assistance outside of class. He/she submitted a referral to the student services staff. This referral could be due to a number of reasons.
First, instructors submit the initial referral form to the student services staff. Upon receipt of the referral form, a student services staff member will contact you in regards to the referral. At that point, the staff member will work with you to determine the services that will be most beneficial to your needs.
Services within Truman that you may be referred to include: tutoring, advising, financial aid, Skills for Success seminars, etc. In addition to these services, student services staff can help you find additional resources outside of Truman dependent upon your needs.
All students can receive assistance by going to the front desk of the Student Success and Leadership Institute in Room 1435.
If you are a student enrolled in a Studio Classroom, you can seek assistance from your Student Services Liaison in Room 2931 or call (773)907-5095.
If you are a TRiO participant you can seek assistance from TRiO staff in the Student Success and Leadership Institute, Room 1435, or call (773)907-4797.
Receiving a referral does not necessarily mean that you are a failing the class. Speak to your instructor to clarify the reason for the referral and to get a better idea of where you stand in the class. The Early Alert Program is designed to help link students with services so that they can be academically successful.
