Our Mission
The Library's mission is to support the teaching and learning goals of Truman College as these relate to student proficiency at research. We are committed to developing students who can:
- identify the type and extent of information needed in an inquiry situation
- access needed information effectively from a variety of sources
- critically evaluate information to determine its validity and usefulness
- organize and use information to complete projects
- apply recognized ethical and legal principles during the entire process of research
To support this mission, we will:
- provide course-related and individual instruction in information literacy to students, faculty, and staff
- maintain a collection of educational materials that are up-to-date, of high quality, relevant to the curriculum, and appropriate for the range of skills and cultural needs of our students
- work with faculty and staff on projects that benefit the Library, the other instructional areas, and the College as a whole
