Federal Grants

 

Federal Pell Grant is awarded based on financial need which is determined by the information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligibility is determined by the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and the student's enrollment status. Federal Pell Grants are restricted to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent.
Amount: The amount of the grant varies by student and academic year.

Deadline: Student eligibility for all financial aid programs is based on completion of the FAFSA, available at www.fafsa.ed.gov with the School Code (001648). The FAFSA should be completed for the next academic year as soon after January 1st as possible.

 

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is a federal, campus-based aid program for students with exceptional financial need. Priority for FSEOG awards are given to Federal Pell Grant recipients with the lowest EFC and the earliest FAFSA completion date. FSEOG is restricted to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent. Funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The maximum award is $400 per semester.

Federal Work Study (FWS) is a federal, campus-based program which provides students the opportunity to work part-time on campus to earn extra income to offset the cost of their education. FWS is based on financial need and FAFSA completion date. Funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. FWS is restricted to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent. Students interested in the FWS program should answer yes to the question regarding interest in FWS on the FAFSA.

Scholarships

 

Illinois Future Teachers Corps (IFTC) Program is for students who are planning to be preschool, elementary, or secondary school teachers in Illinois. This program is generally for academically talented and financially needy students who are enrolled as juniors or above, with a priority given to individuals pursuing a teacher shortage discipline and/or making a commitment to teach at a hard to staff school, and minority students.
Amount: $5000-$15000

Deadline: A complete application must be received at ISAC on or before March 1 preceding the academic year for which the applicant is applying.

 

Indigo Productions best video PSA Scholarship Indigo Productions, a New York City video production company, is sponsoring a nationwide contest offering a $1,000 scholarship prize to the student or group of students who create the most original and effective video PSA (Public Service Announcement).
Amount: $1000 first prize/$500 second prize

Deadline: September 15, 2010. Contestants must be students attending an accredited college or university in the continental U.S. at any point during 2010. Video can be up to 2 minutes long on any health or safety issue that is of importance to the public.

State Grants

 

Monetary Award Program (MAP) is a state program that provides eligible students with tuition assistance. MAP Grant eligibility is based on financial need and FAFSA completion date. MAP Grant is restricted to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent. Funds are limited and eligible students are selected by the State of Illinois.

Silas Purnell Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA) If the information you provided on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) results in a calculated zero expected family contribution when you're a college freshman, you may be eligible to receive the Silas Purnell Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA) Program grant for up to $500.
Amount: up to $500

Deadline: To apply, you must complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, prior to the academic year that starts on or after July 1.
