Registration Information for Free Adult Education Classes

Pre-registration and Registration:

• To get a class, you must pre-register and get a registration ticket in advance. Come to Room 2424 in person from Tuesday, December 2 through Friday, December 19. Pre-registration hours are:
  • Monday though Thursday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:30-7:00 pm
  • Friday and Saturday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
• You must bring proof of address to show that you live in the state of Illinois. A social security number is NOT required. Individuals with F-1, F-2, H-1, J-1 or J-2 visas and those who are just visiting Chicago are not eligible for Adult Education classes.
• If you need a placement test, you may be able to take it when you pre-register (see Testing Information below).
• You will return to complete your enrollment on registration days, Wednesday or Thursday, January 7 or 8.
• Classes begin on Monday, January 12, 2009.

Testing Information:

Before registration day, the following students need to take a test in Room L912:

• All GED students (except Spanish GED) must take the TABE 9 test.
• Intermediate and Advanced ESL students can take the CELSA 1 test (also given at registration).

For test days and times, call (773) 907-4834 or see the online testing schedule. Please do not bring children to testing. Bring test results with you to registration. Beginning ESL students, Citizenship students, and Spanish GED students will take a test on registration day, not before.

Información sobre la preinscripción y la inscripción para clases de Inglés como Segundo Idioma, GED, y Ciudadanía:

• Para tomar las clases, es necesario obtener un "ticket" para las inscripciones y preinscribirse de antemano. Preséntese en el salón 2424 en persona desde el martes, 2 de diciembre hasta el viernes, 19 de diciembre. Puede venir de lunes a jueves de 9:00 am a 12:00 pm y de 4:30 a 7:00 pm, o viernes y sábado, de 9:00 am a 12:00 pm
• Por favor traiga un comprobante de domicilio (como por ejemplo la licencia de manejar, la identificación del estado de Illinois, un recibo de servicios, el contrato de alquiler, correo, etc.). Para poder tomar estas clases, usted debe comprobar que vive en Illinois.
• No es necesario tener un número de seguro social para estudiar en este programa. Visitantes y las personas que tengan visas "F-1," "F-1," "H-1," "J-1" o "J-2" no son eligibles para estas clases.
• Tiene que regresar el 7 o el 8 de enero para terminar la inscripción.
• Las clases comienzan el lunes, lunes, 12 de enero.

Información sobre los exámenes de ubicación (placement tests):

Si usted tiene un nivel intermedio o avanzado de inglés, puede ahorrar tiempo tomando el examen de ubicación "CELSA" de antemano en el salón L912, (773) 907-4834 o véase el calendario de exámenes. Las personas que piensen estudiar el GED en inglés deben tomar el examen TABE antes de las inscripciones. Para las otras clases (inglés básica, GED en español, y ciudadanía) el exámen de ubicación se da en las inscripciones, no antes. Por favor no traiga niños al examen.
