New Student Frequently Asked Questions
If I transfer from another college, will my basic credits be accepted at Truman? (+/-)
As part of the admissions process to Truman, you must have an official copy of your transcript from your previous institution(s) sent from that institution directly to our school. Once you have been admitted to Truman, you can request an official evaluation of your course work from your previous school. Course work from the former school is accepted based on the courses needed for the program you plan to complete at Truman. Only those courses necessary to complete the program you are working toward at our institution will be accepted. Courses must be equivalent to the courses we offer here at Truman. In addition, you must have earned a grade of "C" or better for the course to be approved. Please have your former institution send your transcript to:Truman Collge - Registrar's Office

How can I change my address in your records? (+/-)
You must change your address in person at the registrar's office, room 1220 with proof of your new address, such as a bill, apartment lease, or drivers license that shows the new address.How do I request my Truman transcript?(+/-)
See Transcript Requests As an incoming student with a bachelor's degree, you are not required to take the placement test as long as you have completed a college level English and a college level math course. Please bring an unofficial copy of your transcript to the Admissions Office when you register, so that you can obtain a placement test waiver, and show proof that you have satisfied the prerequisites for the class(es) you wish to take.Where can I see my grades? Grades are available online at my.ccc.edu. Final grades are also mailed from central office for all of the campuses at the end of each semester. If you did not receive your grades in the mail, you can obtain them at the registrar's office with a photo ID. Please note: No information can be given to the student on the phone or sent via email, because we can not verify the identity of the student.How can I have my CLEP (College Credit by Examination) results evaluated for credit? CLEP credits can only be accepted through the Central Office for City Colleges of Chicago the Office of Student Developmemt located at 226 W. Jackson. To qualify as in-district, students must reside within the City of Chicago for a least 30 days immediately prior to the date established by Truman college for classes to begin.What do I use as proof of residency? (+/-)
Enrollment of students is classified, for the purpose of determining fees and tuition, as in-district, out-of-district, out-of-state students or international students. Preferred documents which can be used for residency verification include:
- Driver's License
- Voter Registration Card
- Copy of Lease
- Utility or Telephone Bill
- State of Illinois Identification Card
- Mexican Consular ID
- State of Illinois Identification Card
- Utility or Telephone Bill
- Copy of Lease in Parents' Name(s) at Student's Address
In-District Students
To qualify as in-district, students must reside within the City of
Chicago for at least 30 days immediately prior to the date established
by the District for classes to begin for the term.
Out-of-District Students
Students who reside in Illinois but outside Chicago for at least 30 days
prior to the date established by the District for classes to begin are
considered out-of-district students. Students may be required to furnish
legal evidence proving residence.
Out-of-district students working 35 or more hours per week in the City of Chicago may qualify for in-district tuition by showing proof of full-time employment. Verification on company letterhead must be submitted for each enrollment. (A pay stub, employee ID, or company letterhead with a Chicago address is deemed acceptable.)
Out-of-State Students
Students who legally reside outside of Illinois are considered
out-of-state students.
International Students
Students holding F-1, non-immigrant student visas are considered
International Students, regardless of residency.
- Copies of employment documents and/or visa
- Proof of Chicago residency
- Letter from employer authorizing college attendance, if applicable
Once submitted, the visa holder's application will be complete and the potential student will be authorized to enroll in the maximum hours outlined in their employment contract.
