The Associate in Arts in Teaching Degree (A.A.T.)

Truman College currently offers this degree in one area: Secondary Mathematics. The degree enables students to transfer with advanced status to any public college or university in Illinois and to many private ones as well. The courses which fulfill the requirements for the Associate of Arts in Teaching Degree in Secondary Mathematics (A.A.T.) are listed below. Courses in the General Education Core Curriculum are IAI approved. For more details and assistance with planning your coursework for this degree, meet with your college advisor or a member of the faculty. At least one course must meet the state's Human Diversity Requirement.

A grade of "C" or better is required in classes which count toward the Associate degree. With the Truman College A.A.T. degree, students will have met the all-campus, lower-division general education requirements for transfer to a college or university in Illinois offering a Bachelor's Degree and Teacher Certification.

A passing score on the Illinois Basic Skills Test is a requirement for the A.A.T. degree. Consult their website: www.icts.nesinc.com for more information about the test, or with your advisor.
